This past Thursday, Chof Hei Adar marked the 123rd birthday of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, of blessed memory.
In a recent meeting of the board of Machne Israel, a resolution was taken to commission the writing of a Sefer Torah in her honor, and to begin the writing on her birthday.
On Chof Hei Adar a number of Machne board members, together with key supporters and friends, came together at the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s home to commence this special Torah, being written by renowned Sofer Rabbi Moshe Klein.
The Torah is slated to be completed ahead of the Rebbetzin’s 124th birthday and will remain at the home to be used throughout the year during various special days when there is a minyan at the home.
The proceeds of this project have been earmarked to support Keren Hachomesh, the special fund immediately established by the Rebbe in her honor.
Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, secretary of the Rebbe and chairman of Machne Israel and Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, called on everyone to participate by purchasing letters, words, pesukim etc. for the zecus of themselves and their family members.
