R’ Alex Skoczylas, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, 28 Adar II, 5784.
He was 77.
R’ Alex was the child of Holocaust survivors who immigrated to Israel. He was raised in Israel, and together with his wife, Sara, moved to America to continue his studies.
He worked as a civil engineer, and built the Chabad Center of West Bloomfield, MI, where he was a member for over 30 years.
R’ Alex lived life to the fullest, he was a devoted family man and took great pride in his family. He was a big Baal Tzedaka and was very learned in Torah.
In recent years he was a resident of Boca Raton, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Sara and children, Daniel Skoczylas, Dr. Leor Skoczylas, Miri Farro of Crown Heights, and Sharrone Glick.
The Levaya will take place tomorrow, Monday, April 8, at 3:00pm, at:
South Florida Jewish Cemetery, 6081 S Congress Ave. Lake Worth Beach, FL 33462
The family will sit shiva until Sunday morning, April 14, at:
7960 Chula Vista Crescent, Boca Raton, FL 33433 (Montoya Estates West)

While I lived in Boca Raton, I spent many a Shabbos eating in the home of Sara and Alex. Their hospitality extended to a home filled with Chasiddishe warmth and love to all who knew them. I remember how devoted Alex was to his mother and his children and grandchildren.
