After incredible feedback and much anticipation, Camp Shtetl is back with another amazing summer planned!
In the fields of Southern Iowa, teenage boys will enjoy fun activities including all those that a farm has to offer and more. Visit CampShtetl.com for more information.
Camp Shtetl, intended for the 13-16-year-old boy, is dedicated to preserving Jewish farm life in a fun, frum and educational way. It’s geared toward the down-to-earth camper who is interested in being adventurous; one who doesn’t mind getting dirty and likes to be hands-on with projects. Even though it can get dirty outside during the day, don’t worry; the sleeping areas are comfortable, with full-size mattresses and air-conditioning.
The camp, run by Rabbi Yehoshua Tannenbaum, is geared towards mainstream yeshiva bochurim that enjoy being outdoors, learning and building with their hands, and developing priceless life-skills that will stay with them forever. Rabbi Tannenbaum and the staff work hand-in-hand with the boys to inculcate proper middos and teamwork as they learn halachos pertinent to life on the farm. In addition to the learning, farming and building, campers will also take part in sports, swimming, trips and many other fun activities that one would find at a camp.
Throughout the summer, campers will be surrounded by the beautiful creations of Hashem, gaining a greater understanding and appreciation for the world around them.
This coming summer, Camp Shtetl Farm and Ranch is offering 2 sessions.
Session 1: July 2nd through July 30th
Session 2: July 30th through August 20th
Boys have the opportunity to prepare meals from the fruits of their labor in a true farm-to-table experience. The campers have daily minyanim and shiurim, after which they engage in activities such as building barns and fences, harvesting honey from beehives, caring for and feeding animals (all campers have daily chores), enjoy building projects and reconnecting to Hashem’s land. Some specialty classes also include archery, electrical, self-defense, paintball, and blacksmithing.
“This is a hands-on camp, where we work hard, get dirty and have a good time all the way through!”
