Itzik Benabou, owner of the largest chain of retail stores in Crown Heights, has introduced his newest offering in the neighborhood: House of Glatt.
House of Glatt, located on the corner of Kingston Avenue and Crown Street, has been in operation since 1977.
Its owner was R’ Yisroel Duchman OBM, a passionate Chossid. He sold the business to his son-in-law, Arkeh Tzivin, in 1980. Tzivin has been operating it with his own son-in-law, Ben Gaerman.
In 2018, it was purchased by Benabou, who operates Kingston Pizza and the Kol Tuv grocery store down the road, as well as Empire Kosher and The Marketplace supermarkets.
Recognizing its name recognition, Benabou kept the brand House of Glatt and plans to serve the similar favorite cuts and takeout the store was known for.
COLlive was told that the newly reopened House of Glatt, under the supervision of CHK Kosher, has its own kitchen and will be using different recipes from Benabou’s other establishments.
The store had a soft opening this week and will expand its menu in the coming days. Benabou also plans on offering sandwiches to-go, such as deli and schnitzel sandwiches.

Wow!! Talk about a new look at an old friend, I was there this evening and it was amazing. The upstairs room I assume is a place to sit down and will also function as a. Simcha hall. Whatever the case, I want to wish them many more years of Hatzlacha!!
This is something else
The newly opened store impresses with its exceptional food and layout selection; truly next level! However, I can’t help but wonder about the purpose of the seating area upstairs. The modern and slick furniture, especially the inviting couches, pique my curiosity. What’s the vision behind this elevated seating space?
Maybe, just throwing an amazing idea in here, just maybe, it’s for people to seat and enjoy the food?
Or we should only eat in dirty places because this is what yiras shomaim is about?
…the beautiful couch area won’t get dirty due to be people eating there. That’s what popped into my head as soon as I saw it. 🤷♀️
Thx
Crown Heights has never been the same since

Please bring back the House of Glatt chopped liver!
The best in the world!
what’s it for – rentals, or customers to sit and eat?
Can be used for both as eating area or simcha hall.
Will they have grass fed options
If you want to eat grass you have to go to a health food store.
Fact check: false
There are grazing fields.
Please keep your prices affordable for large Crown Heights families…
Well they have cholent?
What are the couches for? Looks beautiful
Probably for sitting on…
Looks very nice.
Much Hatzlacha!!! Will you have bar b q chicken from the rotisserie?
Is it shchita lubavitch?
Yes
Very professional but is It100 percent shchita lubavitch?
It’s not a problem to sell other shchita for those who don’t need lubavitch
… for the original House of Glatt. Good memories.
Much hatzlocha!
finally there’s a place to eat in crown heights.
It’s funny how people just keep paying a lot of money for things that should be much cheaper. I see these prime meats in the “aging fridge” all the meat prices in general, instead of people not buying for a while so the prices will drive to a lower mark, we continue buying at higher prices thinking that’s is all good while our pockets are getting emptier and emptier. (Even if you make 20 30 50+ k a month you’re spending much more on everything now). We should fight the inflation, we have the power. I want to enjoy a… Read more »
