The administration (hanhala) of the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch, which is based out of 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, held an “emergency gathering” on Thursday night.
The cause of the meeting was the recent violence and chilul Hashem over the tunnel that was dug from the main Shul of 770 and the breaking of its wall.
“As it is known, every year the Yeshiva does not accept extremist bochurim who are likely to cause terrible things, Heaven forbid,” they wrote in a public notice.
“And it turns out that it was done by those who are not students of our Yeshiva,” they wrote, in reference to the vandalism and brawl with police that made international news and went viral on social media.
They reminded bochurim “not to have any connection” to such actions and warned that if it became clear that a bochur had a connection, he would be expelled from the Yeshiva.
At the meeting, held in Getzel’s Shul, 770 bochurim heard that they would stick to their studies and davening, which is the purpose of a Yeshiva.
The 770 Yeshiva’s Mashpia Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi stated that the ones responsible for the violence should do teshuva and “go to the Ohel to ask mechila and go into golus.”
Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Zalman Labkowski stated that bochurim should be listening to instructions of the hanhala with kabbolas ol.
In the days since the violence, the main Shul of 770 was shut down by the NYPD for inspections and repairs. Bochurim scattered around in neighborhood shuls as a place to learn uninterrupted.
As reported on COLlive.com, the Shul is expected to reopen for Shabbos. It isn’t clear when the Yeshiva will be returning to their studies there.

preaching to the choir. From the lack of yellow regalia, it appears none of the Tzfati bochurim attended
There were some wearing those children’s yarmulke’s with the letters on them.
This is a relief to know it was not our students, the Rebbe’s students, boruch Hashem.
That is simply untrue. While some of them were indeed not part of yeshivah, several of them are indeed enrolled in yeshivah

Those responsible for this chillul Lubavitch should under no uncertain terms be shipped back home to Israel! And the rest should be told that they are not the bosses of the Shul therefore should act with respect for everyone and everything.
what on earth does that mean???? is there a difference between chillul hashem and different groups? is a so called chillul lubavitch more or less stringent than chillul hashem? What is the teshuva process for chillul lubavitch (and what is the penalty for not repenting)?
The yeshiva is burying their heads in the sand to save their backs. It is an absolutely false statement that “it was done by those who are not students of our Yeshiva.” A bunch of the buchrim involved in the violence and terror committed this week, including a number of those arrested (according to the names on the NYPD record), are enlisted as students in the yeshiva, and are in the USA with a student visa issued from the yeshiva as well. Instead of taking the achrayus to decry the acts perpetrated by their own students, and rid 770 and… Read more »

B”H First comment. This is clearly false. I know the kevutza bochirim who were there and did it. They were definitely enrolled in kevutza, anyone can see it in the video and many people know them. This is the fault of the gabaim. Rabbi Krinsky should have taken over 770 earlier. It is supposed to be a light unto the nations, the radical kevutza bochirim and messianic Jews there frequently violently kick people out of the shul at their own discretion, and no one does anything about it. Before this happened one bochur who works for the gabaim was cornering… Read more »
“messianic jews” who happen to have learnt a few more sichos about moshiach than you
Who cares how many sichos they (supposedly) learnt? Their actions speak for themselves.

I’m an American 770 bachor and I was at that meeting, the response from the yeshiva was appalling to be blunt and precise.
Hanhallah did throw out Bochurim and spoke in harsh terms of consequence of kids doing things un proper in terms to the worst punishment. But may they be spared and do teshuva.
There were dozens of bochurim in the videos that are available for all to see, and our team of hanahala did such a quick and thorough review of all the videos and concluded that none of these hooligans are bochurim in Yeshiva. I am amazed by how they were able to ascertain this all so quickly. (I hope you realize that my title to this post is literal – that the hanahala is indeed in-credible, and in not credible.).
I’m very pained to see this silly (and dangerous) shifting of blame and evading responsibility. 770 is your Yeshiva building – and you should therefore how things in place to prevent and penalize people who utilize violence, vandalism, and all the other things they’re up to (egg throwing, destroying Seforim, Bittul Torah and the rest of the laundry list.) No one with common sense believes this article to be accurate. . This is very much a tragic product of their inaction. If this would Chas Veshalom happen in another Yeshiva – no principle, dean, supervisor would be able to excuse… Read more »

It was clear to all in attendance that the Hanhalla is dodging accountability. Instead of taking responsibility, they are deflecting attention with a “Kinus Hisoreres”. They failed to provide concrete measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. When pressed, Rabbi Labkovsky stated that those involved won’t receive Smicha from him, but this is clearly insufficient and a little bit humorist. The yeshiva provides visas and we demand stricter handling and prevention of such actions. This meeting lacked substance and resolution, a significant embarrassment for our Hanhalla.
So who told the New York Post otherwise?

Who IS responsible for these bochrim?
Who is housing them? Who is feeding them? Who is educating them?

who’s making money off them
No one. Absolutely No One.
Although it is questionable if the bochurim are part of the yeshivah, (and I will refrain from judging the hanhala) they are almost certainly here on visas provided at some point to them. As such, the yeshivah has a duty to report them and have them deported.
If the bochurim are lone wolf’s as the hanhala says then the Rabbonim must put out a statement ostracizing them and guards should be posted at every entrance not allowing them entry to 770 (and to any Lubavitcher mosad or business). Immediately before they get re-entrenched everywhere.
The two rabbis should be ashamed of themselves.
They did not speak the truth, some of those arrested are registered students in the Yeshiva, they came to the US on visas arranged by the Yeshiva.
Further the general tone of their comments was pathetic, with shifting blame to others dominating their remarks; further this avoidance demonstrated a total lack of ability to take responsibility for the organization they both officially head.
It is time for Rabbi Labkowski and Rabbi Zarchi to step down they are completely incapable of fulfilling their present responsibilities.
Aside from the chillul Hashem this incident has caused, I was pained to see on the videos bochrim walking on top of the tables that had seforim on it! We are taught to kiss a safer that falls on the ground. There is a huge deficiency in the chinuch of these bochrim who see nothing wrong in doing this. They obviously have no yiras Hashem. There is a beracha that is said upon seeing a shul that has been destroyed, the same beracha one says when hearing that someone was niftar, Baruch..Dayan HaEmes. Of course, only one wall was partially… Read more »
who gives the students visa, who’s getting the millions from higher education credential billing?
Have these “hanholar” EVER canceled a student visa for a violent tzfati student?
There is video (the person who took the video and posted it has major tshuva to do as the massive Chilul Hashem and antisemitic conspiracy theories arising thereof), it’s easy enough to identify those who clashed with police rachmana litzlan. I’m not suggesting publically posting their identities on a website or anything of that sort, but an internal lubavitch group should identify everyone who acted in any way with a connection to the violence or the illegal construction. Each and every one of them can be identified with the help of AI (like they did for the jan. 6 people… Read more »
I had a feeling the hanholla will respond in this way. Shocking, disgusting.
They are the cause of this incident
And are to blame for not punishing them
And expelling them from yeshiva and from the country.
Again, disgusting .
I have a question:
I know that in other countries, when someone applies for a study permit, they have to have a confirmation letter from the school they will be attending.
Which yeshiva did these hoodlums get permits from? Or are they there without visas?
If it’s the first, that yeshiva is responsible for them and for expelling them.
If it’s the second, they should be deported. Maybe a stint in the IDF will put them straight.
This article is false, the buchurim involved in this are part of yeshiva and it is appalling that hanhala is trying to evade responsibility and put it on others instead of taking responsibility for the unrest (an understatement) that’s been going on by these buchurim in there yeshiva for the past 25 years.

They can take 770 away, they can take the sichos, they can take the recordings and videos, they can try to fit it into their limited, pretentious view of the world and their cowardly take on Moshiach and Geula, but the Rebbe and the besuras hageula will live on. Do not get discouraged. Chai Vekayam.
What a Joke and a LIE! To prove how guilty the HANHALA is, you need nothing more than even half a brain, to just THINK for a moment: #1- Why did it take them all week, till Thursday night to figure out what to say about all this? #2- Hanhala has PAID EMPLOYEES to supervise the premises where their Buchrim are supposed to be learning. Why then, hasn’t anyone from the HANHALA been FIRED for not calling the police at 4:00 pm when the Fiasco started, under the watch of the HANHALA. Some Hanhala “Heds need to fly”, for their… Read more »
Hanhala has several Mashgichim in 770 who are paid to supervise everyone learning in 770. These Yeshiva Employees, Mashgichim, Mashpiim, משיב and more were all present at the time yet none called the Police. What else will they say next? These were random people dressed as libavitchers? What a shame to twist out of responsibility. I knew this would happen one the shock factor faded and the embarrassment settled in. Excuses for this? Why not deal with it instead.
….to awaken our perspective! The fact that there have been our own students from our own Yeshiva involved does seem to exemplify a very sad picture of where we are in reality. Reality please. Attention please. Action please. Let us come together and effectively address this sad state of affairs with honesty and appropriate leadership before we become a laughing stock, nehdugidacht.
The ones responsible are 1. Aguch 2. Gabboim. Instead of spending money in courts they should have mediated a compromise and work out a plan to expand 770. Instead they do nothing but fight in courts. This causes frustration in our youth, who see that these big chassidim are doing anything but listening to our Rebbe, who approved plans and laid the stone at the groundbreaking way before these bochurim were born. Aguch and the Gabboim should both resign and give the responsibility if expanding 770 to true chassidim.
Is that the entire hanhola?
There are hundreds in kvutzeh. IE hundreds of teen age boys in our neighborhood and that’s the extent of who manages them?
Has anyone considered a class-action lawsuit against perpetrators and financial backers?
These are the worst times right before revealed Moshiach. I was surprised religious men were violent, but the yaetzer-horah is strong as gehenim so we have to fight it with force. Tremendous.
