Yehoshua Merenfeld of Crown Heights described the vicious attack he experienced on Thursday night, when he was beaten and robbed by a perpetrator who called him a “dirty Jew.”
Merenfeld, 40, told NBC New York he was standing outside of his building when a man walked up behind him, punched him, pushed him over, kicked him and then took his phone.
“It was a real beating,” Merenfeld said. “It wasn’t just one punch and left, it took quite a while. At least a minute of punches which is a long time for punches.”
The man who attacked Merenfeld “used a bunch of antisemitic terminology and profanities,” he said.
“Definitely doesn’t feel good to have this happen in your own front yard,” Merenfeld said.
Crown Heights Shmira and the NYPD searched extensively for the perpetrator but he had already fled the area.
The incident is under investigation as a hate crime robbery with the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force handling the investigation. Crown Heights Shmira is actively assisting the NYPD in this investigation and was able to track the perpetrator via video until he fled into the subway.
Police released a photo of a suspect, which was obtained at the Kingston Avenue and Eastern Parkway station.

Refua Shleima
My heart is breaking for u
I hope they find the perp asap & do to him exactly what he did to u!!
Welcome to NY! When they WANT to they ARE able to catch the perpetrator. There is a great deal of video surveillance within the subway system. Masks used while perpetrating a crime should accrue additional criminal charges.
May the perp be found immediately and brought to justice. Even if he is not found by the NYPD, Hashem will bring him to justice. May we have only revealed good things and Moshiach NOW
Do you have him on tape calling him a dirty jew or is it word of mouth. Maybe it was a just a robbery.
Yours is one of the most idiotic posts I’ve seen in a long time.
1) Tape? Are you kidding?
2) You don’t believe him?
2) Were you there? If not, you have no right to minimize this incident.
You should have a complete refuah shleima Yehoshua
And shout-out to whoever got the news reporter to say that at the end. Impressive
based on the guys clothes it should be pretty easy to catch him
