New Principal Leading the Lubavitch Girls High School in Chicago

As previously reported, Chicago’s Lubavitch Girls High School (LGHS) recently purchased a new commercial dorm facility and has broken ground on a new educational campus.

As part of its long-term roadmap toward the future of Lubavitch education, the school recently appointed Mrs. Sarah Wineberg to serve as principal along with the existing team of directors, Mrs. Esther Rochel Moscowitz, Mrs. Chaya Epstein, Mrs. Batya Landes, and Mrs. Mushka Scharf.

Mrs. Wineberg brings 17 years of experience in Chinuch including many years in LGHS where students enjoyed her dynamic and diversified teaching.

For the last 6 years, she worked to help schools across Chicago achieve excellence through academic coaching to students and mentoring to teachers under the auspices of REACH.

More recently Mrs. Wineberg trained in Collaborative Problem Solving and in turn became a trainer in that methodology. Over the last two years, she has returned to LGHS as a dedicated REACH consultant, working with our students and staff and providing professional development to our teachers.

Mrs. Wineberg’s roots in Chinuch are deep. Her mother Mrs. Leah Rivkah Perlstein served as principal of Cheder Lubavitch Hebrew Day School for nearly 30 years, and her father Rabbi Moshe Perlstein serves as Dean of the Lubavitch Mesivta of Chicago.

“Mrs. Wineberg is an outstanding educator who is tuned in to the academic strengths and challenges of every student,” says LGHS parent and Minnesota shlucha Mrs. Nechama Dina Feller. “Her care, devotion and competence enhanced our daughter’s experience at LGHS.”

“This is such exciting news! Mrs. Wineberg is a fantastic educator and an amazing person, and I couldn’t be happier for LGHS to have her take on this role as Principal,” says LGHS parent and Chicago community member Mrs. Adina Kaplan.

“Great things are happening at LGHS,” says Dean, Rabbi Baruch Hertz, “and we look forward to Mrs. Wineberg joining us in this exciting new capacity as we work together to raise the bar for excellence, foster healthy and successful growth, and uphold the trademark LGHS spirit that kindles students’ hearts and minds.
