The Crown Heights Lag B’Omer bonfire in the merit of the Yartzeit of Rabi Shimon Bar Yochai, which has become a beloved yearly tradition, took place Monday evening.
The event was addressed by Rabbi Shmuel Butman and included a rally and fire show.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Yusevitz was the MC for the event which included live music by Yossi Cohen and the Kapelye Choir. The lighting of the bonfire is followed by joyous dancing.
The bonfire is held in memory of Saadia Shmuel a”h Liberow. It is coordinated by Rabbi Moishy Sufrin and Rabbi Shimon Liberow among others, with the approval of the NYPD and NYC Parks Department.
Organizers thanked Avi Viener and his helper, Yonatan Stern, for their assistance in setting up the bonfire, filling in for the person who was slated to do it at the last minute.
