“Parade paradin’…” Zalmy’s siblings sing along to the music in the car as he squeals with excitement.
It’s Zalmy’s birthday today, and all he can think about is his very first haircut coming up this Lag B’Omer.
Zalmy isn’t the only one excited. Dozens of little boys are awaiting their special moment at one of the most legendary parts of the Great Parade: The Upsherin Float!
As it is widely known, the Rebbe’s involvement in the Lag B’Omer Parade and its preparation was of paramount importance.
It is customary for children who turn three in the days leading up to Lag B’Omer to be given an Upsherin for the very first time on Lag B’Omer, being that they were unable to cut their hair during sefirah.
This year, boys like Zalmy celebrating their third birthdays, have the great zchus and privilege to perform their Upsherin at the parade. There will be a special float for Upshernish boys, if your son’s Upshernish is this Lag B’Omer, sign up for the Upsherin float today, by visiting our website: TheGreatParade.com/upsherin.
The Upsherin Float will be riding in the parade’s procession at approximately 12:00pm on Tuesday.
Don’t forget to bring your banners, and your scissors too!
Happy marching!
