A clip of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remarks shown at the torch-lighting ceremony on the occasion of Israel's 75th Independence Day features a glimpse of a photo of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and a clip of a historic Chabad wedding.
The wedding featured in the video is the wedding of Lea Hadad and Rabbi to the UAE, Levi Duchman, which took place last September in UAE.
The largest Jewish event in the Arabian Gulf in recent history, the 1,500 wedding guests included Emirati royals alongside prominent rabbis and dignitaries.
This is a beautiful piece that tugs at the heart. However, where is Netanyahu’s recognition of Hashem? He states that “we made the miracles”.
Our hearts are broken at the steep price paid by failing to adopt (at least the civil laws) of Torah. Were Israel to have a basic recognition that Torah is the ideal way to run things ( e.g. no more policy of tohar neshek; and the need to educate every Israeli on basic oral Torah, not just a smattering of Tanach), –we would be on the authentic path to lasting peace.
