A Menorah lighting ceremony was held in North Crown Heights on Monday night, hosted by Rabbi Schneur Nejar and family.
Lightings celebrating Chanukah are being held nightly in the growing Jewish neighborhood.
The Menorah was lit by Rabbi Zalmy Cohen, and the crowd enjoyed music, balloons, donuts, hot drinks and crafts.
In attendance was a representative of Assembly Member Brian Cunningham (AD-43, Crown Heights) who brought greetings from the assembly member.
“I want to wish the Jewish community right here in Brooklyn and all across the globe a blessed Hanukkah,” the statement read.
“The Hanukkah story touches the spirit the human spirit; it is a story about the power of light to vanquish darkness, the endurance of good despite all odds, beset by dark forces- hatred, jealousy, brutality, baseness- forces that touch every life, forces that each and everyone of us must fight, not least today shown as a rise in virulent antisemitism. We must do everything we can to stand up against antisemitism and all forms of bigotry. The world depends on our light.”

What a wonderful event. Rabbi Najar never disappoints.
