The Chevra Kadisha of Crown Heights held their annual fast day on the 15th of Kislev, followed by their yearly Seudah on Motzei Shabbos.
The custom is they recite Selichos and Krias Hatorah in the Davening during this day. They use the day to discuss the Jewish burial laws that require fixing or enhancement, as well as monetary matters relating to their activities and burial plots. They visit Kivrei Tzadikim on this day and ask for forgiveness from the deceased if they did not act with them appropriately.
The Chabad Chevra Kadisha has the custom to fast every year on Tes Vov Kislev, which is different than many other communities, which fast on 7 Adar.
The reason for this date is for several reasons, one being that it cannot fall on Shabbos. Another reason is brought down in Hayom Yom, that the Alter Rebbe was brought into the Chevra Kadisha on Tes Vov Kislev.
The Seudah this year was held for both men and women at Razag Hall in Crown Heights.
Rabbi Berl Dubrowsky, senior member of the Crown Heights Chevrah Kadisha, started off the evening with a Melava Malka story. Rabbi Itche Mishulovin recited a maamer, followed by Rabbi Moshe Bogomilsky who delivered a Dvar Torah and remarks by Rabbi Levi Garelik.
The event was held in memory of a devoted member of Chevra Kadisha of Crown Heights, Rabbi Yoske Wilmowsky obm.
