The Zellermaier family invites the entire community to join us for a Siyum Sefer Torah in loving memory of Mr. Heshy (Dovid Tzvi) Zellermaier.
Heshy Zellermaier was one of the founding members of Hatzala volunteer CH-8 , where he dedicated his life to helping many people.
He was the longtime owner of the candy store, known to many just as “Heshy’s”. He was a beloved figure in the neighborhood.
Heshy used to open his store early in the winter so while the kids wait for their bus they can wait inside and not need to be out in the cold. It goes without saying that while waiting they received a snack/candy and a warm smile – what better way can a kids start their day?
Heshy was active in saving the now-famous Maple street shul when it was being sold to a church.
He was a warm family man, always selflessly looking out for the needs of others. Nothing gave him more joy than making someone else feel comfortable, cared for, and taken care of.
He worked tirelessly to help raise the spirits and material needs of all including the poor and downtrodden.
His tzedaka was discreet and given unstintingly.
Heshy will always be remembered for his dedication, care and genuine smile!

Loved walking into the Candy store to see him and his dear brother Isaac.
They are both missed dearly.
As kids we loved going into the candy store. We came in holding just a dime but he treated us little ones as the best customers. Always with a smile 😊
