Mikvah. That special mitzvah foundational to married life. Much has been written about the hashkafa, the halachos and the Torah inspiration of Taharas Hamishpacha but until now one thing has been missing. Instead of hearing the same few stories that have been passed around and around or hearing through the grapevine about someone’s mikvah experience, you can now read a compelling book, published by Targum Press. Presenting… Mikvah Stories: True Stories of Women Overcoming Today’s Challenges! Now, for a limited time only, go to www.mikvahstories.com to get your copy before Pesach!
Women today face unique challenges keeping the mitzvah of Taharas Hamishpacha that our grandmothers never faced. From OCD to Covid, now, more than ever, is a time for inspiration.
Mikvah Stories is a collection of a wide range of stories from women all over the world about their Mikvah experiences. There are humorous stories. Powerful stories. Touching stories. Stories of women who went on a Mikvah journey during difficult life challenges. Stories from women of different religious backgrounds. Each story conveys the inner strength that women possess to fulfill this special mitzvah. A collection you will not find anywhere else.
“When I married, I realized that there were no books of modern-day mikvah stories,” says author Chaya Mushka (Piekarski) Raichik. “So, I got to work, calling people and collecting true, first-person stories from women around the world.”
Chaya Mushka also shares that the overall tone of the book is light and easy to read. “This is a book of positivity and encouragement, not a deep dive into heavy topics. My goal is for every woman to find at least one or two stories that inspire them.”
This book is perfect for so many different people. You can gift it to a new kallah, long-married kallah or snuggle up with it yourself! You can share it with a Chabad house member who is interested but hesitant about committing to mikvah. It’s just the right book for a Yom Tov afternoon or while waiting in the mikvah on a Friday night. The possibilities are endless!

Reviews:
Mikvah is a mitzvah that connects us to all Jewish women, past and present. And yet, it sometimes feels like each time we go we are flying solo.
By gathering these stories from women of all ages and stages, Chaya Raichik shines light on one of the deepest aspects of a Jewish woman’s spiritual life.
The power of these recollections lies in their real and raw form; there are no over romanticized Infomercials for Mikvah usage in this collection. It’s pure, unvarnished devotion as encased in the quotidian details of life that leaps off of every page.
Brava Chaya!

I applaud Mrs. Chaya Mushka Raichik’s efforts in collecting and documenting inspirational mikvah related stories.
Each anecdote provides insight, perspective and chizuk for women to enhance their observance of the holy mitzva of taharas hamishpacha. The variety of locations and types of women interviewed, as well as the diverse incidents described, would make such a book “something for everyone”, very relatable to many audiences.

This book is spellbinding! Your depiction of dedication to the mitzvah of mikvah, of the yearning people feel and the lengths to which they will go to bring hidur mitzvah, to elevate this commandment, brings the experience to higher and holier level. Mikvah Stories is so moving, so inspiring, that even readers who may not be obligated to use the mikvah will be motivated to elevate their observance of other mitzvot. —
