Mr. Tenenbaum appreciates finding value in a business and when he finds it, he jumps on it. It’s what’s made him a wise investor and philanthropist.
He applies that same value to where his real passion lies, staying connected with the Rebbe.
“My wife and I decided a little while back that we would make a point of watching the new weekly JEM video,” says Mr. Tenenbaum, “we appreciate the value of watching it together and love the brand new short film that they release every week.”
Tenenbaum is referring to the popular 70 years series, an initiative that JEM began last year and has since produced over 100 short films.
These beautiful short films include “A New Era: The behind-the-scenes story that led to the Rebbe being on live cable television” and “The Rebbe’s Coach: How Abe Sacks, a Harlem Globetrotter coach, became a regular at farbrengens.”
Utilizing the mountains of audio, archival footage, photos and first-person testimonies produced and preserved by JEM over the years, each film tells the story of one small slice of the Rebbe’s leadership. In addition, the JEM team continues to conduct new research and many new interviews specifically for the project. These short films are now included in the popular weekly Living Torah series.
Daniel and Eta Cotlar of Houston, Texas, are on the same page as the Tenenbaums. Cotlar knows a thing or two about value himself, as a “near founding” member of blinds.com who would later help transform the start-up to more than $200mm in annual sales.
“We watch every week as a family and really connect with the short film,” said Cotlar, “hearing an idea from the Rebbe and then seeing it translate to a personal interaction, really hits home for us.”

“For years people have been watching Living Torah in shul,” said Rabbi Yechiel Cagen, director of the popular My Encounter with the Rebbe project, “what we’ve recently seen and are thrilled about, is that more and more families are watching together at home.”
To that end, Jewish Educational Media is proud to announce that in honor of and until Yud Alef Nissan, the Rebbe’s 120th birthday, there will be an interesting and timely daily video curated from the prolific JEM archives and presented on COLlive.com.
“We hope that people who are unaware of the new weekly short films or are not currently watching as a family will have the opportunity to “taamu u’reu” and become members,” said Mr. Tenenbaum.
“We want to do something meaningful for the Rebbe’s 120th birthday,” added Tenenbaum, “so to demonstrate just how important we feel this is, my wife and I are offering the first 1,200 members who sign up before 11 Nissan, 50% off their first six months of membership.”
Just for a reminder. Used to get the dvds.
Thoughtful gesture and appreciated. We already watch every week but will gift to our kids.
No brainer.
