NYPD Community Affairs Detective Mike Baratta, who helps the 71 Precinct service the southern portion of Crown Heights, Wingate, and Prospect Lefferts, was promoted to the Rank of Sergeant this week.
In attendance at the ceremony was NYPD Honorary Commissioner and Community Liaison Devorah Halberstam, who congratulated her longtime friend on the promotion.
Baratta has become a regular figure in the community in recent years, as he assists in the many events, holidays and special days that take place in Crown Heights, home to the Chabad community and the central location which hosts hundreds of events and accommodates tens of thousands of guests throughout the year.
“Mike has become an integral beloved community affairs Detective in the 71st Precinct,” Halberstam said.
“He understood all the nuances of our community; from the important days on our calendar to the crimes that were happening. He cared for our neighborhood and had a keen understanding and great respect for Chabad and who we are. He was a proud NYPD Detective and will continue to serve as a great Sergeant. May he go from strength to strength.”
