Over 250 people joined an event Wednesday evening, 4 Shevat, to mark the 38th yahrzeit of the famed, illustrious and saintly Tzadik and Mekubal, Rabbi Yisroel Abuhatzeira, otherwise known as the Baba Sali, in Crown Heights.
Merkaz Sefarad Chabad, under the leadership of Harav Eliezer (Lazer) Avtzon, once again partnered with Reb Hirshel and Mrs. Annette Lipsker and their children and grandchildren, in hosting the annual Hiloula of the Baba Sali.
Mrs. Lipsker and her sister, Mrs. Chaya Zaetz, whose family hosted the previous Hiloula last week for Rabbi Yaacov, are granddaughters of the Abir Yaacov, Rabbi Yaacov Abuhatzeira, grandfather to the Baba Sali.
The evening featured a live hook up video stream to the Kever of Baba Sali in Netivot, Israel, and began with the traditional lighting of candles and public/private Tefilot to the Tzadik, as well as special Piyutim reserved for this special day.
Participants enjoyed traditional Moroccan foods, together with live music and singing led by renowned Paiytanim.
Speakers at the event spoke about the special Kedusha of the Rav and his connection with the Rebbe and Chassidus Chabad.
