A young couple was announced as the newest Chabad Shluchim in Vienna, the populous city in Austria.
Rabbi Mendy and Sari Weinfeld (nee Gorelik), currently residents of the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon will be opening a new Chabad center.
Their prime mission is to serve the Hebrew-speaking individuals and families living in the city – a number estimated by the thousands.
They will also be serving the Israelis that visit the historic European country for business and tourism.
The Covid lockdown has been lifted this week from Vienna and hotels and restaurants were allowed to reopen.
“Travel to Austria for touristic purposes is possible again for vaccinated and recovered people,” Austria’s travel website said. A Covid test is still required.
The new Shluchim will be opening under the Chabad Haus directed by Rabbi Mordechay and Mussia Segal.
“We thank Hashem for the merit to go out on the Shlichus of the Rebbe to open a new Chabad House for the thousands of Israelis, families, students and business people who speak Hebrew and live in Vienne,” the Weinfelds said.
They said there are many Jews who still haven’t been reached and hoped to create for them “a warm and illuminated home, an address for everything Jewish.”
They were appointed by the Head Shliach of Austria Rabbi Avraham Biderman.
