Chanukah in Florida’s Panhandle was brighter than ever before, thanks to the efforts of Chabad of Tallahassee.
In honor of the Rebbe’s upcoming 120th birthday and with the inspiration of the call of Meros Vice Chairman Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky at the Kinus Hashluchim to reach out to even more Jews, Chabad in Tallahassee brought Chanukah to a level they’ve never done before.
With the assistance of 10 bochurim, Chabad spread out over the entire Florida Panhandle, to small communities and many Jews who wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to meet a Rabbi.
The bochurim distributed 1000 menorahs, and over 75 homes were visited during the holiday, thanks to the assistance of the Merkos Shlichus bochurim and Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky.
A beautiful Menorah lighting and Chanukah celebration was hosted by Governor Ron DeSantis, during which Shliach Rabbi Shneor Oirechman lit the Menorah. Also in attendance was Shliach Rabbi Shalom Ber Lipskar of the Shul of Bal Harbour.
Other special events included a Menorah built of food donations from the community, which was then donated to charity.
Chabad of Tallahassee also held their first-ever Menorah parade with over 30 cars, which headed out to spread the light and joy of Chanukah. This was in addition to a billboard campaign that reached thousands.
Chanukah in the Florida Panhandle was coordinated together with Rabbi Shaya Tenenboim from Chabad of Emerald Coast, Rabbi Mendel Danow from Chabad of Pensacola and Rabbi Mendy Havlin of Chabad of Panama City Beach.
