On Thursday, members of Torah Academy, friends and fellow Shluchim gathered for a groundbreaking event of the new Torah Academy Girls High Campus. Torah Academy, Johannesburg is a Chabad school for all Jewish children founded by The Lubavitch Foundation.
Rabbi Mendel Lipskar, Head Shliach to South Africa told the crowd that a capital investment of this magnitude in the present South African environment is a bold vote of confidence in the future of our community. He reiterated the Rebbe’s brochas and repeated assurances to South Africa that “It will be good until Moshiach comes and even better thereafter.”
The project is being led by Torah Academy’s School Board and its fundraising division, The Torah Academy Foundation, and was made possible thanks to a most generous pledge by Mark and Andy Stein. The Campus will be known as Campus Leah, in memory of Mark’s late mother.
Over the past few months, Chabad institutions in South Africa have invested in other multi-million capital acquisitions which include a new center for the young Anash community in Orchards as well as a new Learning Center in Hyde Park.

Yasher Koach, super proud to be a South African.
