On Tuesday, 3rd night of Chanukah, many gathered outside the campus of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn to witness the lighting of the Menorah by the Rav and Shliach of SUNY and Rav of East Flatbush Community, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Holtzman.
The honor of lighting the Shamosh was given to the Senior Vice President of SUNY Downstate, Dr. Keydron Guinn.
Addressing the crowd and giving their blessings were: NYC Council Member-elect Darlene Mealy, Executive Director of CHJCC Rabbi Eli Cohen, Commanding Officer of the 67th Precinct Deputy Inspector Gaby Celiba, Pastor Gilford Monrose, and Mr. Godfre Bayalama representing State Senator Zellnor Myrie.
The entire event was tastefully emceed by Assistant Vice President for Constituent Relations, Mr. Michael Harrell.
Participants were treated to hot latkes and doughnuts.
Musician Rabbi Mendy Kraus uplifted the crowd with lively music.
