Today the New York City Board of Elections released the first, preliminary round of ranked-choice results. The latest vote count in New York’s mayoral race shows Eric Adams leading Kathryn Garcia by just a little more than two percentage points or 15,908 votes, with 48.9% and 51.1% of the vote respectively.
Adams, the Brooklyn borough president, had a much larger lead the morning after the primary, when he was ahead of Garcia by 10 points.
These results are still not certified, with nearly 125,000 absentee ballots cast in the June 22 primary yet to be counted.
Maya Wiley, a progressive civil rights lawyer and former counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio who was endorsed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was eliminated in the 10th round. Her votes overwhelmingly went to Garcia, figures show.
Absentee ballot results are not expected until July 6 at the earliest, according to the Board of Elections.
Kathryn Garcia celebrated the new results, saying, “Even with today’s ranked choice report we are still waiting for more than 120,000 absentee ballots to be counted and we are confident about a path to victory. Once all the votes are counted, I know everyone will support the Democratic nominee and that’s exactly what I intend to do. We look forward to the final results. Democracy is worth waiting for.”
The winner of the Democratic primary for mayor will face Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa in the election in November, but is heavily favored to win in the overwhelmingly Democratic city.

Just wanted to highlight this
“These results are still not certified, with nearly 125,000 absentee ballots cast in the June 22 primary yet to be counted”
If she was more than 125k down from the next highest vote recipient, then she is out.
And as many as 1250 of them might be from actual live New York City residents!
Adams is the clear winner Garcia Is just cheating with the Russians like biden
A’d Mosai!
So, when the Democrat finally is determined,
and now it’s between Curtis Sliwa or the Democrat,
which one?
He’s shown himself to be really against crime, and to be on our side, not just to pander for votes.
He has also shown he is really against yeshivas and wants students to be exposed to secular ideas
There is a recent video of him online ranting about how we Jews sit and study all day but control politicians with our checks that don’t bounce and that although it’s okay for Americans to advocate for their preferred policies, we don’t advocate for things everyone else does. Don’t know where that came from but hmm
How could they play this game of elimination before the absentee ballots are counted? It seems unfair.
“It shouldn’t matter which side of the aisle you’re on — if you believe in our Democracy and in the peaceful transition of power, then you have an obligation to speak out against Donald Trump’s dangerous, unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud.”
So, Eric, how’s it feel now that the shoe’s on the other foot? What made Trump’s claims “dangerous, unsubstantiated” and yours, supposedly, not?
So now we know why the left loves ranked voting.
If you have one sane candidate and 4 crazies, and the population is crazy, the sane candidate can win under a normal vote count because the crazies will differ on their favorite brand of crazy.
Ranked voting prevents that from happening.
Does it really matter who wins?We need moshiach.
