In another historic first for the UAE, the writing of a new Sefer Torah, the first since the peace agreement was signed between Israel and the Arab country, was begun this week.
Uri and Adina Krausz of Zurich, Switzerland, were inspired following the historic peace agreement to begin the writing of the new Torah in the country.
Adina Krausz has already sponsored the writing of another Torah last year, donated to the Chabad Center of Iceland in honor of her husband Uri’s 50th birthday.
“That event was so uplifting, that we were inspired to do the same thing in the UAE,” Adina Krausz told COLlive.
The Torah will be donated to the Chabad of United Arab Emirates, directed by Shliach Rabbi Levi Duchman.
The writing ceremony took place at the JCC in Dubai, attended by Rabbi Levi Duchman, community members, tourists, and friends of the Krausz family from Belgium and Zurich.
The Torah will now travel to Israel for the sofer to write, and will be brought to the UAE for completion in the near future, Krausz says.
This Torah, however, represents another joyous series of events, Krausz says.
“The funds for the Torah will be from the proceeds of the ‘Shadchanus gelt’ – the money paid to me for having made successful shidduch matches – in the past few years,” she explains.
“It is still not fully paid for, so I am hoping to make a few more Shidduchim before the Torah is completed,” Krausz says.

May they make many more happy & healthy shidduchim to be able to pay off the remaining debt quickly !!!
Kol Hakavod Krausz Family, you are very special people! and Rabbi Duchman too, a legend! Keep up the great work!
