In the late hours of the night and early hours before school, there are boys around Crown Heights who are spending countless hours learning Tanya, the foundational teaching of Chabad Chassidus.
Their goal: Complete the Tanya and travel to the Ohel of its author, the Alter Rebbe in Haditch, Ukraine.
The idea was first presented at the beginning of the 5779 school year when Rabbi Yossi Teleshvski, Tzivos Hashem Director at United Lubavitcher Yeshiva on Crown St. contacted Rabbi Menachem Mendel Yusewitz, Menahel of Cheder Ohr Menachem, and suggested his vision.
“These boys should have the zechus to represent all Dor Hashvii boys who toil on the learning ‘Tanya Baal Peh’ before the Mechaber The Alter Rebbe in Haditch!” Rabbi Teleshvski said. “They will display the way Chassidim of Dor Hashvii are completing his Holy Avoda of bringing the Shchina L’matta!”
A group of students from both schools who learning the first 12 chapters of Tanya ended up taking the special trip and connecting with the birthplace of Chassidus and learning about Chabad history along the way.

The second trip is being timed for the yartzeit of the Alter Rebbe on Chof Daled Teves. During the trip, the boys will also be traveling to Dnipro (Dnepropetrovsk) where the Rebbe was raised and spend time with the local Shluchim.
Very nice.
Great job
