Diplomatic and Jewish communal circles in Washington, New York, Europe and the Middle East were buzzing with a historic message – the first public Shana Tovah greeting on behalf of Jews in the UAE to His Royal Highness, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the ruler of the United Emirates, and the Emirati people.
The special Rosh Hashana greeting from the leader of the Jewish community Center of the UAE, Rabbi Levi Duchman, was conveyed in fluent Arabic, described by prominent Arab figures as “excellent,” “way better than my Hebrew and even my English,” “more than fully intelligible,” “amazing” and even “epic.”
This comes on the heels of the historic White House Signing Ceremony of the Abraham Accords, attended by Rabbi Duchman, who was accompanied by the President of the Jewish Community Center, Mr. Solly Wolf, who then hosted a special VIP reception to mark the historic occasion.
Hopefully an indicator of תשפ”א – may it indeed be a year of פלאות אראנו in every way, in the region and around the world.
