After the rejection of opening a location in Queens earlier this year, the $1 trillion company is searching for a location to open up a warehouse in Brooklyn.
Amazon is looking for a space large enough to house and operate a logistics facility and is currently considering space in Industry City located in Sunset Park.
It is not exactly known how much space Amazon is seeking, as they aren’t giving word about it. But sources say they are aiming for 1 million square feet, with options to expand.
The tech giant is considering other options in Brooklyn as well, including the parking lot of the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The Economic Development Corp operates the grounds and is looking to build a large distribution facility there.
Amazon has grown and expanded its logistics facility in recent years, with a lease of nearly a million square foot in Staten Island, and earlier this year leasing more than 100,000 square foot space in the Bronx. However, the big company has yet to establish ground in Brooklyn.
An Amazon spokeswoman stated that it has not signed a deal yet in Industry City or any location elsewhere in Brooklyn. “We don’t have anything confirmed in Brooklyn,” she said.
