Mesivta Ohr Temimim Lubavitch in Toronto, Canada, celebrated the start of its 4th year with a brand new Sefer Torah dedication by the Meldung family and an enrollment of a record number of talmidim.
“We had an amazing Yeshivas Kayitz Program in Napanoch, Catskills, New York,” said Rabbi Eliezer Posner. “The bochurim learned and grew spiritually, while at the same time, enjoyed a large variety of daily sports, activities, special guest speakers, inspiring farbrengens and stimulating night activities and many off grounds trips. It was a summer the bochurim will cherish for a long time. We thank our hanhala, staff and shluchim for making it the success that it was.”
On Sunday Elul 15, the day Tomchei Temimim was founded by the Rebbe Rashab, Mesivta Ohr Temimim Lubavitch celebrated a siyum for a brand new Sefer Torah.
The new Torah was dedicated by Mrs. Chaya Meldung, in loving memory of her parents Moshe Wolf and Nechama. Her grandchildren, Tomer and Rivkie Meldung suggested that this special Sefer Torah be gifted to the Mesivta.
“We thank them for this enormous gift,” organizers said. “Many have B”H partnered with the Torah by purchasing Parshiyos, amongst other items, in support of the Mesivta.” Opportunities for partnering are still available at ohrtemimim.org.
The Chabad Toronto/Thornhill community filled the streets with families and children holding fire torches and dancing to live music as they marched towards the Mesivta.
After eight very spirited rounds of hakafos, refreshments were served to all in attendance and a special seudas mitzva banquet was held. The Mesivta chef catered the gourmet meal to everyone’s delight.
“Starting the fourth year of the yeshiva resembles the 4th year of a young grapevine”, said Rabbi Baruch Zaltzman, Dean and founder of the Mesivta, in his speech at the banquet.
This is a message from a sicha of the Frierdiker Rebbe in 1942 when the new Tomchei Temimim in America was entering its 4th year. He said: “Fruits of the fourth year must be brought to Yerushalayim, meaning Yira Sholem. This means that each bochur must work in being a very strong Ish Chayil of Bais Dovid, exerting great effort and strength in ensuring a complete state of proper kiyum HaMitzvos with Yiras Shomayim.”
Rabbi Zaltzman added, “Our bochurim experienced a true simcha shel Torah and ended the banquet with spirited chasiddishe nigun, breaking into a lively dance with all in attendance. We wish our new group of shluchim, and all of our precious talmidim, a year full of growth materially and spiritually.
“We also wish our dedicated team of Hanhala, Rabbi Eliezer Posner, Menahel, and our Rami”m; Rabbi Menachem Mendel Shusterman, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Landa and Rabbi Moshe Hus, much hatzlocho in helping and guiding each bochur in the path of personal growth and success.”
He also thanked Mrs. Rochel Adler, a parent in the Mesivta, for of her involvement in making sure the event was the success that it was.
