The following is a letter sent to friends of Chabad at FSU and Tallahassee in Florida and was sent to COLlive.com:
Hi,
My name is Rabbi Berl Goldman from Gainesville, FL, Chabad at the University of Florida and I’ve borrowed Rabbi Oirechman’s email. We are football rivals, but also dear best friends …
The Oirechmans are bursting with love. They are always thinking of others, and how they can help. They’ve built a beautiful community of people who care…reflecting their love back.
It’s not just Rabbi Schneur and Chana. It’s all their beautiful children…they care for all the FSU students and the community and they each show their love in their own way.
Last week, the Oirechmans had a baby boy. Mazal Tov! You may know that whenever a baby is born, the parents live in a good busy state. There is so much to do, as well as making sure that all the kids have their needs met.
Even through all this wonderful pressure, the Oirechmans would not consider canceling the special Lag B’Omer Jewish Unity Celebration that took place yesterday. Because they care so much. And they’ll figure out how to make it happen.
BUT THAT’S NOT WHY I’M WRITING. In the midst of so much busy joy…a horrible accident struck. And that’s why I’m writing you for your help.
Their 4 year old son, Boruch Shmuel, got hit in the eye with a strong arrow.
Boruch Shmuel had a surgery yesterday and possibly another one scheduled for today. I have no words to describe my feelings of anguish, sadness, and worry. I can’t imagine what they are going through.
I know one thing. We have to do what we can to be there for them. Because they would do no less themselves, for you, me and for everyone. And now they simply can’t.
They have a bris coming up tomorrow morning on Shabbat, nine other beautiful kids thank G-d, to take care of. Chana is barely home from giving birth, and they have their regular summer fundraising to take care of, all their pivotal programming with students during the year.
BUT NOW, they have more…they need to take care of Boruch Shmuel. They can’t do it alone. They need our help. Immediate out of pocket expenses of $25,000+. Paying for tomorrow’s Bris, home help and travel, food costs and the list is long. And there is still so much unknown.
Helping Boruch Shmuel through this will take months. He may need to be transferred to South Florida for further care. And Rabbi Schneur and Chana need to care for Boruch Shmuel’s emotional and mental trauma as well, all the while being parents to their other children and everything else that they do.
It’s overwhelming to just think about. But we need to be there for them. And we need to start somewhere. So I turn to you to ask you to help with the immediate out of pocket expenses.
Can you help the Oirechmans with a generous gift? $25,000+ is a lot of money, but if we each give $1,000, $500, $250 or whatever you can, we can pull it off.
We can give the Oirechman family a little peace of mind, we can give them one thing less to worry about. Can you help? I’m sure that any amount you can give will be very much appreciated.
You can give online here directly to them https://www.chabadtallahassee.com/Donate or via PayPal to Chabadtlh@comcast.net or you can mail a check to: Chabad of Tallahassee and FSU, 224 Chapel Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32304.
With blessing that we should soon hear good news and may we all experience only joy and peace.
Warmly,
Rabbi Berl Goldman

Rabbi Goldman is a stellar shliach who is always reaching out and helping others . Thank you for giving all of us the opportunity to help the oirechmans in any way we can. If you can help with even 5 or 10 dollars, anything will be helpful. But if you can open your pockets deeper and give more ro these selfless shluchim who are going through so much ,then we would be ever so grateful.
