Beth Rivkah’s Week of Giving Pushkah Campaign culminated today with pizza and ice cream celebrations for its students.
Over $10,000 was raised by the students of Pre-1A through 7th grade. Classes that brought in over $500 enjoyed a scrumptious pizza party while classes that raised $250 or more got to enjoy a refreshing ice cream from The Kosher Ice Cream Truck. A special yasher koach to 3 classes that raised over $800 each and got to enjoy both the pizza and ice cream.
All of the funds raised from the Pushkah Campaign are benefitting the Beth Rivkah Scholarship Fund. Rabbi Moshe Pinson, Beth Rivkah’s Director of Development, expressed how amazed he was at the excitement, enthusiasm, and spirit of chesed that these students displayed in participating in this mitzvah.
Beth Rivkah Pushkahs were mailed out to over 3,000 homes in Crown Heights this past January. Rabbi Yossi Baumgarten, Development Program Coordinator, explained that only 25% of those with a Pushkah, the Beth Rivkah parent body, participated in the Week of Giving Pushkah Campaign, now we are reaching out to the wider Crown Heights community.
The entire community has an opportunity to participate in this two fold mitzvah, giving tzedakah and supporting chinuch. If you have a Beth Rivkah Pushkah in your home and are in need of a pick-up, or need a pushkah for your home, please contact us at Pushkah@bethrivkah.edu.
Every penny counts! Although the contents of each Pushkah varies, starting as low as $10 while others have had upwards of $250. Your support really makes a difference!
