Dr. Bernard S. Baumel, M.D. is the Voluntary Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Departement of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida.
He recently met with Rabbi Shmuel Tevardovitz of The Shul in Bal Harbour in Surfside and shared with him a facinating fact that he discovered while treating the Rebbe after the stroke in 1992.
Why is everyone knocking the Doc. The Rabbi in the interview asked the question about anyone else with similar brains. Obviously the doc had not seen anything like in his clinical practice. The Rebbe functioned way different then most. He was jumping over gates to the Botanical Gardens in his 60s or 70s, could stand for hours and hours and give out kos shel bracha for hours and hours that most in their 40s cannot perform and was doing into his 90s. The Rebbe keep hours that were truly not human. The Rebbe was a spiritual and physical giant all… Read more »
As a child I heard that the Rogatchiver Gaon was 2x Einstein.
But who can really measure. In my humble opinion the Rogatchover was 100,000,000 X Einstein.
NS
Should we focus on Rebbe’s teachings and directives or his anatomy?
he ruined it by putting the Rebbe and Albert Einstein on the same level.
When atzmus is melubash in a Guf, does it matter at all about the Guf’s natural abilities? We are talking ATZMUS!!!
It’s known, that the alter rebbe was a neshomo chadosho – a neshomo deatzilus. Just like the Oirois Deatzilus Can Just be Mislabesh in Keilim Deatzilus, (and NOT in keilim Deby”a). So – most probably – a Guf of a rebbe is Like Keilim deatzilus – and that’s why it is a keili to a neshomo deatzilus. So What’s the Pele – the Wonder that a Guf of a Rebbe has No Hagbolois of Zman and Mokoim. But Since We Are Looking on a Rebbe with Fleishike Oigen – So we don’t realize who and what we are seeing. Veilu… Read more »
Listen to the Rebbe! It’s not about being really frum. Or a big chossid. It just makes sense.
To compare the Rebbe’s brain to Albert’s isn’t a complement to the Rebbe. The Rebbe intelligence certainly surpassed Einstein’s, in an uncomparable away. However, it does put in to perspective, how the used mind, does not shrink…
Where was he for the past 25 years?
Why didn’t anyone hear about this story?????
When I was a neurology resident I heard first hand from the Rebbes other neurologist (a very renown and extremely well published stoke specialist) who was also involved in the Rebbe’s care the exact finding as noted above about the Rebbe’s neuroimaging. It is a two edged sword, for if the cortex of the brain is that robust and injury occurs there is no room for an expansive lesion and/or edema and you get more severe deficit, midline shift, and herniation etc…Of interest, I have seen patients with very severe MS, severe large old strokes, and dementia patients with shockingly… Read more »
Albert Einstein and the Rebbe MHM.Great story!!!👍👍👍
but i dont like the title
Jem should have him on A my encounter
I’m sure the Rebbe’s spiritual greatness prevented the anatomical aging from happening.
Thanks for sharing another aspect of the Rebbe that many did not previously know
