This year a record number of cities around Australia were visited by representatives of the chabad of RARA Team. Founded and directed by Saul and Beverly Spigler, Chabad of Rural And Regional Australia is the traveling Chabad House of the Australian outback.
Chabad of RARA broke every record this year with a phenomenally successful Chanukah. From Cairns in the far North to Jindabyne, NSW, the RARA team brought the Chanukah light to 20 locations around Australia.
With the motto “no Jew will be left behind” The RARA team made sure that almost every Jew around Australia could participate in a Chanukah function. Giving out 500 Menorah kits, 1500 Doughnuts, 200 dreidels, using ten vehicles and reaching over 800 Jewish souls over the width and breadth of the massive continent.
This year the team included a new addition of volunteers from the Beth Rivkah school in Melbourne setting out to the Southern highlands; Narooma, Bowral, Nowra and Mittagong. The girls used their summer holidays to fulfil the Rebbe’s shlichus and reach out to their fellow Jews, bringing youthful energy and enthusiasm wherever they went.
Roaming Rabbis JJ Duchman and Eli Muchnik visited Newcastle, Central Coast, Port Maquarrie, Coffs Harbour and Darwin.
Rabbi Yossi and Malki Rodal, (Regional directors of Chabad of RARA), Visited Geelong, Dandenong Ranges, Jindabyne, Wollongong, Newcastle and Toowomba.
Rabbi Ari and Mushkie Rubin, (Chabad of RARA in North Queensland), Visited Cairns, Townsville, Airlie Beach, Mackay and Port Douglas.
Others all around Australia helped the RARA team as well. Bochurim from the Yeshiva Gedolah in melbourne did Mivtzoim in Ballarat and Bendigo. As did some vacationers in Seymour and Sunshine Coast. Chavi Laz, a RARA volunteer Ran an event in the Blue Mountains. Besides for the actual events, Jews all around Australia were sent Menorah and Candle kits and the Children had special children’s kits sent as well.
