On Monday night, approximately 10:00PM, a woman walking home was viciously attacked and robbed in the heart of Crown Heights.
The victim was walking on Crown Street, between Brooklyn Ave and Kingston Ave, when a male attacker punched the victim in the head and threw her to the ground, he then grabbed her purse and ran away.
Thankfully B”H she was not badly hurt.
A passerby stopped to help the victim, while immediately calling Shmira, Hatzalah and 911. Shmira members and the Police responded quickly, they began to search for the suspect while Hatzalah responded to check out the injured victim.
Unfortunately after an extensive search, the perpetrator could not be located. Shmira obtained surveillance footage and handed it over to the Police Detectives for review.
If anyone has any more information regarding this incident, you are kindly asked to call Shmira at 718-221-0303 and the 71 Precinct Detectives at 718-735-0501.
Everyone should leave your front lights on. It may help a bit to keep people safer. Can’t cost much and it is worth it too.
We don’t know why certain things happen so instead of criticizing and saying she shouldn’t have done this or she should’t have done that…we should honestly increase in light! In Torah & Mitzvahs and at the same time these POLICE should not just be standing in one spot on eastern parkway but driving around all over Crown heights to keep the Jewish people safe, especially at those time of hours! Hopefully this will not happen to anyone else and we should see the coming of MOSHIACH NOW!
I was told that Shmira escorted her back to where she is staying after dealing with the police
I was told that she’s not from here and that’s why she had her stuff
If you are out at night, try not to text, because if you are texting you are not aware of your surroundings
yes thats why whenever i babysit i make sure if i leave after 10.30 (or its in a part of ch i dont feel comfortable walking myself) they need to drive or walk me home
it was 10pm . not 3 am . and shes not a little kid. let me see you stay in your house from 8pm-8am
also who said a cab is any safer?
T’would be a good thing if we could All meet Together, once in awhile, when very important issues arise!
Of course women can walk at night, but don’t carry a purse! That is simply just like asking to get mugged! And same with jewelry – cover it, hide it! You gotta be smart because if you are dumb, you will get mugged.
are you serious? try to picture what your life would be like if you never went out alone after dark.
People have lives -they go to work, go to classes, have errands to do. life doesn’t end when the sun goes down.
My younger sisters often go out throughout CH to babysit and come back at CRAZY hours; 99% of the time by foot.
I am not judging anyone only suggesting that it would be prudent and considerate of parents who hire a babysitter to give the babysitter a lift from time to time, and would considerably reduce the amount of girls walking the streets after hours.

BH “she was not badly hurt”,that certainly is good. However, when she walks out again at night, or even during the day on a quiet street she will probably be very uneasy, to put it mildly…I know from experience. Yes, what does Mayor di Blasio have to say?
The only ones in the area that will track him down is us
Can we get a nice photo op out of all of this at least? At the JCM with all the usual suspects.
CHJCC – where are you to make sure the community is safe?
why dont you use your power to make sure that CH is a safe community?
What else would you do when you meet politicians?
Its such a sad situation…
why do women walk alone at night? because were PEOPLE who have LIVES and we have a right to WALK. we shouldnt stop walking at night because some creeps have issues. thats ridiculous. take a cab? and who pays for that? are you out of ur mind?
we have a right to walk around at 10pm and not get robbed or punched!! higher security is the answer, not taking cabs!
Community members must be and stey alert all the time, and especially at night, these thugs won’t stop, when something like this happens, if we are walking down the street or looking out a window, we must call our shmira’s to come and aid, I was on Crown yesterday when the lady was hit, and in less than a minute the shmira boys were there, we must keep out children safe, please, keep your eyes open, and I’m saving the shmira’s number to speed dial, 1718 221 0303 more men who are ready to protect should join and keep our… Read more »
This block as well as many other blocks are pretty dark at nights. More illumination will help to keep us safe.
This govt. cannot & will not protect its citizens.
Failure…failure…in business they would have closed their doors long ago. PRODUCT: PEACE & TRANQUILITY.
Guns Now! Esav is a failure…Wait folks…don’t forget Israeli Govt. is also Esav. He/they’re too busy with sports, entertainment…et.
TALK TALK TALK Mayor DeBlasio, etc.
TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK …WALK? NEVER!
They are all guilty until proven innocent let them come after a man and see what they get these ppl cowards, and should be thrown in prison
Why do women walk alone at night? Take a cab, ask your husband to meet you, but don’t put yourselves in danger like this.
A Chassidic man came to her aid and took $100 out of his wallet and gave it to her. It was not a loan. She doesn’t even know his name. Our great Jewish people….
Thank G-d “she was not badly hurt”. But she was hurt so Hashem should send her a refuah shleimah.
Why bother handing over the surveillance footage to the NYPD? They don’t do nothing with it anyway. Shmira and Shomrim should view the surveillance footage and take care of this criminal themselves. The Cops are very busy (eating donuts) and dont have time for this kind of crime.
That may help us know who to avoid.. but maybe it’s not politically correct?
Hope u guys catch him
A Shmira member told me that he also stole her cell phone but he dropped it while running… Bh she was fine
