With temperatures heating up this week, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for New York City until 6 p.m. Thursday.
The high temperature for Wednesday will be 89 degrees, but it will feel more like 99 degrees, as reported on Accuweather.com. Thursday’s high will be 93 degrees, but it will feel more like 102 degrees, according to forecasters.
A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.
Prolonged exposure to the heat can be harmful and potentially fatal. If someone you know feels weak or faint, he or she should go to a cool place and drink water. If there is no improvement, call a doctor or 911.
Oh Boy! It is hot hot hot & we will have high temps through Rosh Hashana. But…. almost no humidity, so it is just about bearable.
Wear light, cotton clothing, a hat of some sort, drink a lot of water and try to stay in the AC. Remember, though, in 6 months you’ll be under 2′ of snow and will be begging for relief from that!
Today was quite cool we needed sweaters So come visit!
Is the Shalom Center on Albany Ave one ? It means that anyone (not just seniors) can go there during the day from 9-5 to enjoy the air-conditioning & get some relief from the heat.
