Dear friend,

With joy, and not a little pride, I’ve watched as my wife’s dream has taken shape and become a reality for the women of our community. Baruch Hashem, The Women’s Circle is a strong organization, uniting all different types of women, from across Crown Heights, into one cohesive unit.

But let me back up for a moment.

Five years ago, my wife dreamt of a place where women could join together for learning and friendship and mutual support. It was to be a place where babies were welcome and motherhood was celebrated. So together with Mrs. Dvora Lakein, she opened the doors of The Beis Medrash Women’s Circle in Shvat of 2012.

Since then, the women meet weekly for a stimulating Torah class. Monthly special events explore timely topics such as postpartum depression, bullying, shalom bayis, and personal growth. I know that their Yom tov programming adds a lot to our home’s Yom tov atmosphere. And I know that every Wednesday she comes home with renewed inspiration and enthusiasm to take care of our family.

The Women’s Circle works hard to keep costs low and thereby make their programs accessible to all women in the community. Their annual fundraiser usually amounts to a significant part of their budget. This year, in recognition of their fifth anniversary, they have launched a Charidy campaign to raise $20,000. It’s money that will be used for programming and classes in Crown Heights; strengthening each of our families and by extension, our shchuna.
