What do Sofia, Bulgaria; Pucon, Chile; Reykjavik, Iceland; and Discovery Bay, Hong Kong have in in common?
They are a few of the hundreds of locations across the globe that will be serviced this Pesach by the 600 bochurim who are participating in the Merkos Shlichus program, the largest endeavor of its kind in the world.
The Yeshiva students, young rabbis in training, came to the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights this week to be tested on their halachic knowledge and interpersonal skills.
“This year we will commemorate 67 years of the Rebbe’s nesius through the goal of reaching out to 67,000 Jews,” says Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, who oversees and directs the Merkos Shlichus project.
“Empowered by the Rebbe’s love for every Jew, the bochurim will be given the tools to make the Seder accessible and enjoyable to all. While they will be forgoing the traditional family seder and work extremely hard their continued dedication and devotion to the Rebbe’s vision is what’s enabling so many of the Seders fifth child to join a family experience of their own.”
