At that time there was fighting over the Gabboim so the Rebbe didn’t want any moves by independent power seekers. Yankel Goldstein has the wrong info. The Ksav Yad will come out…

The Rebbe was not opposed to street co-naming. The Rebbe wrote a letter to the Mayor of an Israeli city thanking them for naming a street after “Chabad”.

I am very surprised that this was requested and done . When I was the Chairman of Communty Board 9 (1979- 2014) a group of Chassidim approached me in the 1980’s to co- name the street in front of 770 the ” Rabbi Joseph I . Schnerson ” road in honor of the Freirdker Rebbe . I told them I would ask the Rebbe if this was appropriate . I received a phone call from Rabbi Hodakov who told me NOT to do it .
