A photo of the Rebbe receiving a poster for an ad campaign to publicize the Pesach holiday by Manhattan Shliach Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger has gone viral on social media in recent days.
The advertising campaign, organized by The Chai Foundation in 1991, placed holiday posters in every subway car and in bus stops around New York City ahead of the Pesach holiday.
The ad, which features the line “Don’t Pass Over Passover,” was edited by the Rebbe, who had much input in the campaign.
The photo which was recently released by JEM, shows Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger, director of The Chai Foundation, presenting the poster to the Rebbe at dollars.
“The Rebbe asked if the poster can be left with him,” Rabbi Metzger recalls. “A few moments later the Rebbe called me back and said (in Yiddish), ‘I believe you’ve already submitted a poster (through the office), better take this one back and put it in another Subway.'”
That’s great! My father, Nachman Levine made that ad in the late 80’s. He made it for Chabad headquarters. Thanks for bringing that up.
