The city will again spray mosquito-killing pesticide in its latest West Nile and Zika-prevention efforts.
Health Department workers will deploy the spray from trucks Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the following areas:
Bergen Beach, Brownsville, Canarsie, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Farragut, Flatlands, Georgetown, Gerritsen Beach, Marine Park, Mill Basin, Mill Island, Ocean Hill, Paerdegat Basin, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Remsen Village, Rugby, Sheepshead Bay, Weeksville and Wintage.

“While we do not expect to find Zika in New York City’s mosquitoes, we are taking no chances. We are moving forward with a safe but aggressive plan to spray pesticide when we find significant numbers of mosquitoes that could possibly carry Zika,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Mary T. Bassett in a statement.
“New Yorkers should continue to enjoy outdoor activities this summer while taking the usual precautions against mosquitoes, including wearing repellant and reporting standing water to 311.”
The spray contains “very low concentrations” of Anvil 10+10, which does not pose “significant risks to human health,” according to the Health Department.
Residents are advised to stay indoors during the spraying and the use their AC on air recirculation mode, especially people with asthma or other respiratory conditions.
People should also bring children’s toys and outdoor equipment inside.

Not everyone can tolerate this spray so well, and yet still have things to do that will keep them out past 10 for sure. They’re starting too early to do this!
Suppose it happens to be warm during Succos, they may decide to spray when we need to be in our sukkahs eating?Won’t that be lovely, what then? Oy!
Why do they have to start spraying so early? Many people may still have to be out & about until at least 12am. (Shabbos shopping & Chai Elul farbrengens for example). Some others have tutoring and even a few don’t get home from working late occasionally. This is upsetting, they could wait until a little later to start this stuff. Some of us can’t avoid being out until 11:30 or 12am. Not happy with this arrangement at all!

where are all these dead animals that you speak of? i live in MIami Beach and I have not seen one. please dont make more out of this than it is. it is an unfortunate necessity to stop this low-risk virus from being an overblown scare story. yes take precautions, but you still have to live your life every day.
They government did not ask us wether we wanted harmful chemicals sprayed over us either. This is very dangerous, post sprayings over Miami there have been dead lizards, birds, squirrels on the streets.
For all New Yorkers who aren’t familiar with the harmful effects do not let your children play on playground equipment, requests that schools and you local government rinse all playground equipment off. Remove any outdoor furniture as well.
Its easier and safer if people use personal mosquito repellent and basically cover up, then to spray harmful chemicals with horrible repercussions.
