14. You have eaten the cholent in 770

BH Live in Crown Heights 7/8 years, don’t really identify with any of these except I used to eat the cholent as a Bochur. Sorry. These would resonate: 1 Walk five minutes or email when I need to ask a Rov a question 2 Walk 2 minutes to 770, 4 minutes to the kids school, 5 minutes to where I work, 8 minutes to my Shul. 3 Have the opportunity to go to endless choices of Shiurim etc minutes walk away 4 two minutes to Mikva (OK 749 a little complicated recently:) 5 Say hello to old and new friends… Read more »

Life long crown height resident..born on kingston and eastern pkwy. .this is too funny. As a non Jew..I can relate to a few of these..especially Ranskins fish market. .
My mother still goes there weekly. Love my crown heights.
You are a Crown Heightser if…
…you are immune to the Erev Shabos Siren😄
I remember being in CH (28yrs ago as a guest, then) hearing it.
15. If you leave a comment.
I don’t like that most of these apply to me… :/
1.Apple bank is bad for so many reasons ( don’t make that mistake ).
2. 770 Chulent is Pareve ( in case you don’t know ) and tastes good.
i want to move there sooooooooo badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least im not a crownheightser 😉
oh yes go Crown Heights OH yeahhhh
And those are some of the reasons I moved
What is wrong with you? You’re implying that if you don’t go on Shlichus you’re worthless?? What would the Shluchim do without crown heights? Raskins, Hasofer, all the sheitel machers, and list goes on and on we host your students and baalei batim and Shluchim and shluchos all times of the year and for you to post that is degrading and exactly what is wrong with the pompous attitude that a lot of Shluchim give off when they call people from crown heights “farmers”
only when the rabbonim start respecting themselves you can expect the public to respect them too!
they have made their fighting as public as possible and have dragged this entire neighborhood in the shmutz – they refuse to talk to eachother and continue to battle and bicker
Every other conversation is about the housing prices
Why did you need to do number 3? And with a picture!
to pic #14
first of all they dont do the cholent .
what you see in the pic is that they make food for after the fast so pple can break there fast.
kolhakavod to them . they sit in 770 kitchen all day preparing the food give a huge shout out to YY son who stands on his feet making all the food with together other borcharim including Yitsy Vail.
Lol! But you mean a black pepper bagel with potato to hold the black pepper!
You’re favorite bagel is a “potato bagel”!
You can’t wait patiently on the sidewalk for the walk signal!
I love living in Crown Heights! With all its faults it is the most spiritually uplifting place in the world outside Israel (I say this as someone who has lived and traveled in/to many other places)
… and aside for Israel, CH is the only place where I would live.
May we all merit to move to the Holy Land NOW!
Bring nosy looking in to pepoles cars
I’ve been living in CH for all my life. If this is whats makes you a CHer or if this what ppl think Ch is all about, then its really depressing!!!
You “go walking to the falls”
If you know to come an hour late to everything!
Have bars on your windows
Go shopping with a cart
Have your veges delivered to your door
Have girls live in your basement
Have your Succah on the fire escape
look out for your Jewish beggar
Double park without think twice
Don’t say “hi” …
only if you find yourself alone in a subway train far away….
Think that the Botanical Gardens are Gan Eden
…….
but the only one that REALLY applied to me is #14.
Weekly. Proudly.
not a crowen hightser but love it and btw 24 we all wouldn’t be able to do it with out you and 20 its a name you should be proud of! and i say that as a not crowen hightser
Set yout gps to 770
You walk by people and don’t say good morning or good shabbos. You know more about your neighbors than you do about your children. You don’t know what zman tefilla means. You make kiddush on booze and thinks it’s a chassidish thing to do. You don’t appreciate the fact that anything you want to buy is within walking distance of your house. You drive 4 blocks somewhere within the community. You spend 30 minutes trying to find a parking place. Every night. Tishrei means crowds. A smile from a store vendor creates a strange unusual feeling. Actually you never experienced… Read more »
The Rabbonim Disrespect themselves by acting the way they do.
Years ago I would make a special trip to 770 erev shabbos to have a bowl of cholent was always great
Go on shlichus
You think a Bugaboo can be purchased with food stamps
Ma Zeh?
I don’t get it.
We need more articles about CH great and random people that make our place unique
Crown heightser or not I’d still go for rats out of the house than dog in the house..
No such thing as living in Crown Heights for “too long”!
always hosting guests from kinus to YU shabbaton tto cteen to tishrey….giml tamuz…
Not asking Avremel Fried for his autograph
You’re a CH’r if you found this post funny
But most still apply to me. 10/14. I went to school in CH.
maybe you should remind yourself of all the amazing things we do here and forget about the materialistic faults.
Making fun of someone for living in Crown Heights, calling him/her a “crownheighter” is immature and unappreciative.
You drive a shiny black SUV with “Leasing Direct” license plate frames…
not funny… really condescending and disrespectful to Rabbanim
As they say, “the more things change the more they stay the same!” Almost every one of your criteria had a familiar ring to it! COL you have your finger on the pulse.
🙂
Thanks for the laughs
great pictures, all true????
More, please
Hilarious!!
GO RASKINS!
Lol! Spot on!
Just play along !
That’s so funny not all of them are true but most are 🙂
Nice picture (last picture) of “Cholent on Shabbos” !!!!!!!!
I have lived in Crown Heights for over 60 years, and do not identify with ANY of the 14 items listed.
SD
when its a month after chanukah and you still have a magnet menorah on top of your car
having lived there for quite a few years, I identify with whats listed above, hilarious…… dont miss it!
Hilarious
Pretty awesome!!! #therebbesshchunah
I guess I’m a crownheightser, but I never ate chollent in 770. Don’t think I ever will.
