The new school year at Machon L’Yahadus started bright and early Tuesday morning with a choice of Tanya or Maamer.
The daily 8:30 am Chassidus class is a favorite part of the day for most of the students, many of whom are delving into serious Torah study for the first time in their lives. This full-time women’s baalas teshuva yeshiva in the heart of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, is headed by Rabbi Shloma Majeski, principal, and Rabbi Yitzchak Hecht, shliach of the Rebbe in Ulster County, executive director.
Among the other classes that follow throughout the day and week are Halacha, Parsha, Sichos, Chumash, Novi, Hebrew skills, Jewish history, Rambam’s Thirteen Principles, Tefila, Jewish Home and Moshiach & Geula.
Risa Mond, who was president of her CTeen chapter before graduating high school and coming to study at Machon L’Yahadus explained, “It is a place where I can grow, explore, and learn surrounded by amazing teachers and students. But even more, we’re given the tools to take everything home, and include our families into the Machon L’Yahadus family.”
Machon L’Yahadus offers a core curriculum that includes textual studies, skills classes and traditional one-on-one (chevrusa-style) learning as well as lectures and workshops. By the end of the first year, a full-time student will have mastered the basics of Jewish life, Jewish law and Jewish living. Many students continue on for a second year of more in-depth study.
Classes are in session from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. daily Monday through Thursday and Friday until noon. Parallel classes are taught on two levels; beginners and advanced, with the Chumash skills class taught on three levels.
Tal Portal was a Hebrew Language Fellow at Vassar College. She came to Machon L’Yahadus to celebrate Shavuos in the dorm in 2015, and never left! Tal says, It is more than just a school of text learning. It is a family, a place of growth, a school for life.”
This year’s students hail from throughout the U.S., including Florida, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Montreal, Arizona, California, Texas, Kansas, as well as Israel, Brazil, France, Venezuela and Ukraine.
The school, a division of NCFJE, is located at 825 Eastern Parkway.

What an amazing school! The staff there is amazing and everyone knows that regardless of the name of the school. They are THE place for serious baal teshuvas to learn. Rabbi Majeski, Mrs. Cohen, the Papes, Mrs. Klein, the Hechts…..too many incredible staff members to count. I wish you all the best on this new year. May you go from strength to strength!!
rabbi Majesky is certainly one of the greatest gifts Lubavitch has today. and thank you Hechts for standing up for what’s right!
Rabbi Majesky and his staff are truly exceptionally devoted and caring. Rabbi Majesky taught chassidus for the Sunday program over 40 years ago before becoming principal of machon Chana . I am very grateful to have attended those classes where mrs. Leah Kahn , mrs. Korf, rabbi baumgarten, mrs. Chana Marasov, mrs. Sterna spritzer and many other superb teachers taught . I wish rabbi Majeski and the entire staff much continued success in their work. Chaya Lieblich

I second that. Beautifully said! When I think of a true chossid a pnimi I think of Rabbi Majeski.
Looks like a happening place BH. Are married women who are not allum allowed to join? Is there a curriculum to choose if we want a class on a particular day? Is there a charge?
I will forever be grateful to Rabbi Majesky for the time, effort, focus, care and empathy he gave to me when I was his student. I learned so much from him and am blessed to have had that invaluable time in my life.

You have touched so many lives in so many ways. Thank you for your devotion and selflessness in bringing up a generation of baales teshuvah with a solid foundation of Yiddishkeit and the inspiration to be the akeres habayis in their chassidishe homes.
the real deal.
For the new year. Looks amazing! So many neshomos walked through those doors BH.
One hot summer day I saw Rabbi Majeski walking down kingston. He looked like a king in his hat and kapota. It is HIM AND THE OTHER RABBEIM who for years and years gave over to the girls, that people like me and many others are here!
Wishing much hatzlocha to the girls and staff of Machon L’Yehadus!
