The 5th yartzeit of Rabbi Menachem Zeev Greenglass, a revered Mekubal and Mashpia who lived in Montreal, Canada, was marked on Sunday.
Over 600 people gathered for a Hakhel gathering at Congregation Shomrim Lakoker in Montreal.
Anthony Housefather of the Parliament of Canada spoke as well and sent greetings from the government of Canada.
The Temimim Boys Choir, conducted by Rabbi Avraham Chaim Cohen, performed some niggunim.
A video of Hakhel with the Rebbe and Reb Volf was shown.
Rabbi Berel Mockin, Head Shliach to Quebec, introduced Rabbi Leibel Groner, the Rebbe’s longtime secretary and a friend of Rabbi Greenglass.
Rabbi Groner farbrenged late into the night.
Reb Volf, as he was known, coauthored a book titled Sefer Haminhagim on Chabad customs with Rabbi Groner. The book has become the standard collection of Chabad Chasidic customs and practices.
At the event, his family announced the beginning of the translation of his collection of chassidic stories and saying published in Hebrew until the title “Likutei Sippurei Hisvaadus.”
The planned book in English will also include the translation of Reb Volf’s other work titled Lekutei Dinim, a guide to daily life originally written Yiddish. The book was edited by the Rebbe.
“Many have expressed fond memories of farbrengens with Rabbi Greenglass,” the family said. “Unfortunately, the Hebrew book is not accessible to the English-speaking public. We hope with your help, we will be able to complete the realization of this project and make this work available to everyone.”

This is unbelievable and a true treasure to look forward to, Reb Volf was an extraordinary person of true example and a true mashpia in our times, I was fortunate and lucky to ha e known him, and I have the original book that came out, this is something we should all try to be a part of, it’s something that our children can all benefit from.
