As the school year came to an end, a first grade class of Bais Rivkah came to the ohel together as a group.
In years-gone-by, teachers would often come together with their students to the Rebbe. On various occasions teachers would bring their class for special yechidus, and later more commonly for dollars. So being this year is a Hakhel year and a special time for gathering together, Mushkie Shmotkin, a first grade teacher at Bais Rivkah, decided to bring her entire class to the Ohel.
After discussing the idea with some of the girls’ parents, the girls were invited to come to the Ohel with their mothers and sisters, and plans were soon underway for a fun filled day packed with hiskashrus. During the weeks beforehand, the girls excitedly prepared with stories and songs about traveling and writing to the Rebbe.
Finally the big day arrived. The girls first met at 770 where they davened shacharis, before boarding a bus to take them to the Ohel. “The girls chanted the Pesukim, and tehillim all throughout the journey” said one of the parents “it was so special to see them enjoying these moments of Chasidishkeit.”
Since the trip took place on a day with no school, the girls didn’t have to wear their uniform. Instead, after learning how important it is to come to the Rebbe dressed as if one would be entering yechidus, they came wearing their prettiest Tznius clothes.
When the girls arrived at the Ohel, they first watched a short video of the Rebbe, before filling the tables of the first tent where they each spent their time carefully writing their Panim and letters to the Rebbe. They then each gave Tzedaka before all going into the Ohel as a class.
“It was an amazing and spiritual experience” added another parent, “seeing a whole group of first graders writing their Panim, davening with such kavanah by the Rebbe, and coming so well prepared. It was really amazing.”
After spending some time at the Ohel, the girls came back to the tent where they washed Negel Vasser and enjoyed some cookies before heading to the trailer for lunch and a farbrengen. At the farbrengen they proudly sang all the songs they had learned in preparation for the special day.
The entire group thanks the kind and generous sponsors of the bus.
Thank you Morah Mushky for instilling an extraordinary love for yidishkeit and chassidishkeit in our daughter this year. She learned so much, and your dedication to each child is beyond anything we could have hoped for! May you go from strength to strength and keep making the Rebbe proud.
