Tonight, Tuesday, March 15th, Jewish Girls Unite, the global community for Jewish girls, will hold their First Anniversary Celebration, ”An Evening of Inspiration, Unity and Light.”
The event for women and girls will be held at the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights and will also be broadcast live for women and girls across the globe.
The JGU celebration will honor Mrs. Esther Sternberg’s commitment to Mitzvah Neshek, the Lubavitch Women’s Candle Lighting Campaign with the first Jewish Matriarch Award; and will also recognize the partnerships of Mrs. Yocheved Daphna, Honorary Chair and Mrs. Linda Schwartz, Honorary Founder.
A highlight of the evening will be the launch of the new JGU Shining Stars program.
Through the generosity of Linda and Ory Schwartz, a new program to empower girls with natural artistic talent by matching them up with a professional coach will be announced at the event.
The first three JGU Shining Stars will debut at the dinner, all 3 alumnae of the Jewish Girls Retreat. Two of the stars will perform live at the dinner – Golda Daphna and Chana Leah Yerushalmi, and Dasi Sessel will perform via live stream from the Shul of Bal Harbour.
The event will also include inspirational stories and songs, including the release of an original candle lighting song composed by singer Rivka Leah Cylich.
Professional performers Esther Freeman, Tzivia Kay and Chanale Fellig will perform as well; Mirile Rosenberger will accompany.
In only one year, since March 15, 2015, the celebration and launch of the new Jewish Girls Unite website at www.jewishgirlsunite.com, the growth and impact of Jewish Girls Unite has been exponential. Today, hundreds of Jewish girls around the globe are connected online in a safe, loving, happy non‐denominational Jewish place at Jewish Girls Unite.
The event will celebrate the impact of Jewish Girls Unite, a global community empowering Jewish girls and women, using innovative approaches in education and technology. Through creative Jewish education programs focusing on the arts and self discovery, JGU inspires girls to “shine their inner light” [find their purpose] and become leaders who create positive change in our world.
Jewish Girls Unite programs include virtual Rosh Chodesh celebrations, Online classes for Bat Mitzvah, Teens, and Women, Summer and Winter Retreats and a new Leadership Development Retreat. JGU also has an editorial board of writers and a forum for girls to share ideas and ask questions online. JGU members have met for the very first time at the Jewish Girls Summer and Winter Retreats in Upstate NY.
