Two people were killed, and six were injured, in a multi-site terror attack in Jerusalem Sunday.
The attack began with a shooting attack near police headquarters on the main road on Ammunition Hill, where people were waiting for the light railway.
The dead were identified as a 60-year-old woman and a 30-year-old male police officer who had been rushed to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus.
ZAKA volunteers, on their way to the incident, received an alert that the terrorist had continued towards Clermont-Ganneau Street, where he shot and critically wounded another woman in her car. The terrorist continued toward the Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, where police officers on motorcycles from the city’s Special Patrol Unit gave chase, shot and killed him. One police officer was critically wounded and a second officer lightly injured.
ZAKA volunteer, Are’le Pomp, said, “I received a report about a shooting attack at Ammunition Hill. On my way there, I received an update that the critically injured person is at the next junction. When I got there, I assisted in the care and CPR of the wounded, before the evacuation to the hospital. The ZAKA Jerusalem volunteers remained at the scene to collect the remains.”
“ZAKA volunteers are on high alert at this time, not only in Jerusalem but also throughout the country,” said ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi-Zahav. “They were able to give an immediate response to the injured at the scene.”
