Rabbi Sholom Rosenfeld, Administrator of Educational Institute Oholei Torah in Crown Heights, sent a letter to parents refuting claims there’s abuse in the boys school.
Tuesday’s letter comes following an expose in Newsweek magazine titled “Child Abuse Allegations Plague the Hasidic Community.”
“I categorically assure you that there is absolutely no abuse taking place in Oholei Torah that we know of – neither s abuse, nor physical abuse, or verbal abuse,” he wrote.
Rabbi Rosenfeld says the veteran school “is blessed with a very special group of Rebbes who exemplify Midos Tovos, alongside their Yiras Shomayim and Chassidus.”
The email described them as educators who “care deeply about their talmidim and treat them with concern for their physical welfare and emotional security.”
Oholei Torah stated that over the past few years, precautions were instituted “to ensure the utmost safety of every single child.”
Among those are windows on classroom doors, a contract with child safety rules, awareness lectures and the Safety Kid organization working with the students themselves.
“You may be 100% relaxed and confident,” Rabbi Rosenfeld wrote. “If G-d forbid you have any serious allegations, please contact the authorities, Beth Din or myself. We take every allegation seriously and will investigate and act upon it to the utmost degree possible.”
