They didn’t plan the menu, shop for the food, or wash the dishes. For one glorious shabbos, 40 women from Crown Heights and around the country united for the Women’s Circle’s 2nd annual shabbaton.
Starting from midday Friday, erev parshas Vayera, attenders were pampered with manicures and exercise and yoga classes. And sushi, a popular pre-Shabbos treat courtesy of Dovid Hershkowitz of Sushi Spot.
Each woman received a lovely welcome bag, donated generously by Linda Gutleizer of Apple Drugs, with toiletries and snacks for their stay. The retreat, based at Vallevue Estate in Morristown, brought these wives and mothers together for a spiritual and physical rejuvenation.
Some 300 candles burned in unison as Mrs. Esther Sternberg regaled the assembled with stories of her personal relationship with the Rebbe and Rebbetzin. Their glow continued to shine as the women davened and then dined together. To the women’s delight, Mrs. Rishe Deitsch shared humorous and humble marriage insights that amused and inspired. Mrs. Sara Morozow led a spirited discussion on shalom bayis that ran into the wee hours of the morning. Late night gifts, including a beautiful tichel for each lady, were gifted by Penina Raksin of Post Mark-It.
Breakfast in bed, sponsored by Berry of Bunch o Bagels, was a huge hit and only the beginning of a day filled with nourishment for the body and soul. Fine fruits and vegetables, featured at every meal and snack, were generously donated by Shlomie Klein of Mr. Greens, a devoted contributor to the Women’s Circle all year long for five years now! Attendees enjoyed chassidus classes, discussions on raising chassidishe children, and a rousing Crossfire session throughout the day.
On this short winter day, motzei shabbos came too quickly. The milchik melava malka was rounded out by a craft, comedy show, and a raffle for a precious Rebbe dollar. As the women gathered their bags and headed home, they all planned to make this shabbaton their annual treat.
Thanks to our co-sponsors: Apple Drugs, Post Mark it, Bunch O Bagels, Mimulo, Albany Bakery, Sushi Spot and Mr. Greens
