Girls Embark on New York Trip

Last minute preparations are being made as extra scarves and warm sweaters are being stuffed into suitcases. Nine girls and their teacher are excitedly awaiting their 9:30 p.m. flight tonight to share their achievements with the Rebbe.

Link By Link, a program initiated by Miss Raichik of Bais Rebbe Los Angeles, has been in full swing since Rosh Chodesh Kislev. The mothers were invited to a special presentation introducing the program. The girls sang, danced and performed… begining their journey of learning, hiskashrus and hachlatos.

Every two weeks they focused on another “link” in our golden Chain of connection. From meticulous tznius, to waking up like a chassid, to speaking and eating like a chassid and of course being careful not to weaken any links with media which is not holy. In addition, they acted as lamplighters, reaching out to neighbors and friends with neshek and letters in the Sefer Torah.

Every Rosh Chodesh, the mothers came in once again. And each time, they were amazed again by the example their daughters are setting for their families, communities and the world!

And then… the grand raffle for a trip to New York materialized into a group of nine girls traveling! An action packed trip full of inspiration and productive fun awaits them. They have spiritually prepared to visit the ohel and 770 and are bringing letters from their families and friends as well.

These nine girls represent the entire seventh grade of 21 girls who have all participated and worked hard on this program. Miss Raichik gave each of them a “link by link” bracelet and as they progressed, they added charms to represent their avodah and hachlatos. For example, the strawberry charm represents being careful with brachos, hilchos Seuda and meticulous kashrus. The dress is tznius of course.

The girls were surprised at the airport when they were shown a special string which will be added to their bracelets… A string from one of the Rebbe’s door mats. Rabbi Cunin, head Shliach to the West Coast, sent this as part of the reward for their efforts so that the girls can always have this as a reminder of their accomplishments, and continue their great work.

The program will culminate on shabbos mevarchim Chodesh Adar Bais as they will have a grand class Shabbaton in Burbank with the Shluchim.

What’s one accomplishment of “link by link”?

– I started wearing skirts over my pjs when I go out of my room.

– I became more aware about brachos

– I started dressing more tznius

– We began lighting shabbos candles with my 93 year old neighbor every week

– I went on mivtzoim with my father for the first time with neshek… we also went to a neighbors house I brought challah and signed them up for a letter in the Torah

– It made me do more… made me more tznius… I say Krias shema in a siddur at night

– I started to say brachos more often because sometimes id forget but now I’m more aware
