As parents and bochurim begin to look towards the upcoming summer, the hanhala of the Mesivta of Postville are pleased to announce the opening of a new, unique program within their already highly successful and sought-after yeshivas kayitz.
Starting the summer of 5775, in addition to the existing yeshivas kayitz program, the Mesivta of Postville will introduce a Safrus Training Program.
The safrus program is for bochurim completing shiur beis and gimmel of mesivta, and shiur alef and beis of zal. One does not need to be artistic or have a good handwriting in order to participate and succeed. In addition to participating in the regular sedarim in chassidus with the yeshivas kayitz, the participants will learn, and have shiurim in the relevant סוגיות in gemara and poskim. They will also have daily, hands-on instructional sessions in the techniques of safrus, with plenty of time for questions and answers.
The participants will be taught how to prepare and work with the kulmus, the klaf and the ink, as well as how to write according to ksav Admu”r Hazokein. All of the necessary supplies will be given to the participants. The participants of the Safrus Training Program will join the yeshivas kayitz for daily sports and activities, as well as some of the trips.
While of course, no program can promise to turn one into a סופר, the participants will learn the halachos and the mechanics of safrus, and will get plenty of hands-on training and practice. Ultimately, participants who are serious about safrus will likely be eligible for, and will receive a Certificate of Hamlatza (recommendation) by the end of Yeshivas Kayitz.
More information is available on the Mesivta of Postville website, mesivtapostville.org.
