It is now four years since Mrs. Chaya Zlata Geisinsky passed away in the prime of her life, on Rosh Chodesh Tamuz (Tamuz 1).
Her community still feels the gaping hole left by her passing. Mrs. Zlata Geisinsky obm was immensely respected and admired throughout the Greater Washington, DC area.
As a dynamic Shlucha, her impact is still very vibrant today, her exceptional capabilities helped soar many community programs and projects to their optimum achievement. But to Zlata Geisinsky what mattered most was the personal help she could offer to improve an individual’s life. The pain that is still felt by countless people on a personal level points to the difference she made to literally thousands of adults and children to whom she is endeared forever. Her devotion and concern for others was of a proportion that knew no end. As Director of the Preschool of the Hebrew Academy of Greater Washington and as a wise mentor she generated a Kiddush Lubavitch with a ripple effect that continues to benefit the Chabad Centers of the entire surrounding area to this day.
Each year towards her yahrtzeit the Chabad Centers of Bethesda – Chevy Chase, Maryland (which she co-directed) presents a program to honor her memory and celebrate her life. This year a reception and musical program took place at the Kreeger Theatre of the JCC of Greater Washington, on Thursday, 28 Sivan – June 26.
The feature performer was Chaim Fogelman who inspired the audience with songs that spoke to the heart and strengthen people’s Emuna. A guest appearance by Chassidic singer-composer Boruch Sholom Blesofsky treated the audience to 2 beautiful songs from his upcoming album. Remarks were heard from the Mrs. Geisinsky’s husband, Rabbi Bentzion Geisinsky and her eldest son Rabbi Sender Geisinsky yblt”a, father and son Shluchim.
The event was well attended and ended in a determined mood and confident dance that this will be the last event celebrating her life with her physically absent. As her husband said in his remarks, on this calendar day in the coming year a gathering will bring together the community once again and it will be addressed by Mrs. Geisinsky in person iy”h, with coming of Moshiach – now!

I knew her way back – encountered her twice since – and still recall how amazing she was. The two interactions were enough to know what a true Chassidiste / shlucha she was.
