The Rebbe’s answer from the week of Parshas Va’etchanan, 5727:
* Learn by heart the verse from Devarim 5:16: “Honor your father and your mother as the Lord your God commanded you, in order that your days be lengthened, and that it may go well with you on the land that the Lord, your God, is giving you.”
* Say the verse 3 times a day – evening, morning and afternoon until the situation is rectified.
* Learn the daily portions of Chitas (Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya).

Where is this saying of Besh”t quoted?
Your Rov is correct, but that doesn’t mean you are permitted to embarrass them either. Kitzur Shulchan Aruch indeed writes that: מי שנטרפה דעתו של אביו או של אמו, משתדל לנהוג עמהם כפי דעתם עד שירחם ה’ עליהם. ואם אי אפשר לו לעמוד, מפני שנשתטו ביותר, יניחם וילך לו, ויצווה לאחרים להנהיגם כראוי להם. it seems like the Rebbe added this note on the original letter and those 2 words were an instruction to his secretary to sign (lchtom) his name and add (l’hosif) the additional comment
